Ahe kept three sheep: a brown-faced adult, a black-faced adult, and a little white lamb with a blue scarf. Whenever fresh grass arrived, the lamb stretched out its nose to find the tenderest handful.
One day Tao found a leaning fence board. At her gentle touch, a loose rope swung, revealing a gap. “Could the lamb get out through here?” she asked.
Ahe looked, then lifted his grass basket. “It's only a little gap. I'll mend it tomorrow.” Busy feeding the sheep, he did not notice the lamb sniffing toward the greener grass outside.
